Those attending were Ron Rinehimer, Jim Rinehimer, Pastor Penny Dollar, Janice Broyan, Chris Dietrich, Beverly Kramer, Meredith Martin, Cindy Heller and Jill Bernetski.
- II. Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the February 17, 2011 consistory meeting were sent to some members via email. All members received a copy prior to meeting. Minutes were reviewed. No additional changes were made. Motion was made by Jim Rinehimer & seconded by Cindy Heller to approve February consistory minutes. Motion carried.
- III. Treasurer’s Report: The 02-28-11 treasury report was provided. Overall totals for general, building and memorial funds were calculated correctly. A motion was made by Cindy Heller and seconded by Beverly Kramer to accept February Treasurer’s Report totals. Motion carried.
- IV. Old Business:
- PNEC Conference: The consistory retreat will be held Saturday, July 9th; it will be held at Pastor Penny’s home in Sunbury.
- Audit of Books: No one has volunteered to complete the audit. Ron will ask Frank and Cliff to complete the audit.
- VISION: Pastor Penny and Ron will be attending a meeting next week; it is uncertain if we will still be hosting VISION the week of May 9th. Due to funding cuts, VISION is having financial difficulties and is may not be able to transport the men to the shelters.
- 300 Club: The priority right now is to sell tickets.
- Organist: There is no update on the search for a new organist. Don will be on vacation in June so we will need to find someone to fill in.
- Offering Envelopes: The order needs to be placed by April 30th . The Stewardship & Spiritual Council will be reviewing the church rolls to consider who should be removed from the list to receive envelopes. A decision will be made at the April meeting as to how many envelopes to purchase.
- Soup Fundraiser: Soup will be made Saturday, April 2nd, with pick up being held Sunday, April 3rd. The types that will be made are Chicken Noodle, Potato and Vegetable with Hamburger.
- Men in Harmony: The concert will be held Sunday, June 5th;; there will be a love offering. Light refreshments will be provided which includes sandwiches and beverages; leftover food from the yard sale will also be provided. Those attending will be asked to bring a refreshment to share.
- Steeple Light CD: Ron to renew CD for 1 year.
10. Yard Sale: A breakfast will be held for the helpers. Kitchen help will be needed. The youth will be asked to help prepare breakfast.
11. Veterans Day Plaque: A new plaque needs to be purchased. The current plaque holds 60 names. Any veteran who served in war or peace time who is a member of the church can have their name on the plaque. The same style plaque can be purchased. The size of the new plaque is 15” x 21” and has 48 plates. The cost of the new plaque is $200; all engraving is included in this price. Motion was made by Janice Broyan and seconded by Jim Rinehimer to purchase the plaque. Motion carried.
12. Railing Memorial Plaque: Ron will talk to Don about looking into purchasing a plaque to hold the names of those who make donations to the church. It was suggested to have one large plaque with plates that are a little larger than those on the Veterans plaque. The plates would need room for two lines. Anything donated would be noted on this plaque; if something was not already recognized it would also be recorded here. The only exception will be the pavilion which will have a separate plaque.
13. Easter Breakfast: The men’s group will prepare the breakfast to be held after the sunrise service, which will be held at 6:30. Jim will be in charge of organizing the breakfast.
14. Turkey Supper: Pastor Penny suggested having someone act as a babysitter for the helpers at the supper. Pastor Penny will ask Jill and Caroline.
- V. New Business:
- Bank Accounts: A letter was received from Citizens Bank stating that they are going to begin charging a $9.99 fee per month for accounts with balances under $2,000. This will affect the Memorial Fund account. They have a program that would enable members to contribute. A member can open a Make a Difference Checking Account; for every qualifying purchase that is made with a debit card, First National will make a 0.25% donation to the church. Pastor Penny will talk with First National Bank next week.
- Money Needed to Pay Bills: There is not enough money in the General Fund to pay the current month bills; approximately $7,000 is needed. The Memorial Fund CD is currently earning 5% interest; the Janney Fund is making a little more. We are currently earning about $375 a month. We have been fortunate as we have not had to redeem any funds so far this year. There is only $42,000 in the Memorial Fund; if money is withdrawn, interest for the last six months on money removed would be forfeited. There is a better chance to earn additional funds on the Janney Fund. The bills coming due are the building insurance, heating and pension payment. A motion was made by Jill Bernetski and seconded by Meredith Martin to transfer $7,000 from the Memorial CD to the General Fund. Motion carried.
- Spring Clean Up: The clean up will be held on Saturday, April 30th.
- VI. Other:
- Church Projects: Jim suggested making a list of things that need to be done around the church and to look for volunteers to complete the necessary work. The list will be posted on the bulletin board and included in the newsletter asking members to donate their time and talent to help with the upkeep of the church. This will also help keep future costs down.
- Yard Sale: Yard sale will be held June 4th; this will include a breakfast. People can bring items in early and store them in the purple room. Ask Lynn to chair or to support whoever does chair.
- Soup Sale: Another sale will be held April 2nd and 3rd. Discussion was held to only sell two types – Chicken Noodle and Potato.
- Veterans Day Plaque: The plaque is filled; a new one should be purchased.
- Turkey Supper: The supper will be held on April 16th. Ticket prices will remain the same with the cost of an adult ticket being $9. Turkeys will be purchased from Shady Maple.
- Lent: Suppers will be served at 6pm, services will be at 7pm with the first service to be held on March 9th.
- Easter: There will be a breakfast after the sunrise service.
- VII. Pastor’s Business:
- Mission Trip: The youth will be attending a mission trip to Myrtle Beach from July 31st through August 6th. To help defray the cost of the trip, the youth will be “hired out” to help with spring cleaning. They will do any type of yard work and wash windows for a donation. They are also talking about holding a car wash but that would need to be held at a gas station in MountainTop.
- Workshop: There is a workshop to be held on April 2nd in Eason entitled “Imagining Our Gifts”. The cost is $15 a person and includes lunch. Pastor Penny, Archie and Jim Rinehimer will be attending.
- Lenten Suppers: There were about 20 people at the first dinner, with 25 people attending the service.
- Secretary Time Off: Denise really hasn’t had to take too much time off. It was suggested that a donation of $100 be made to Denise to help defray the cost of traveling to Philadelphia daily. A motion was made by Jim Rinehimer and seconded by Cindy Heller for the donation. Motion carried.
- VIII. Communion Setup: APRIL: Cindy (Jim will help) MAY: Janice (Jill will help)
- IX. Next Meeting: Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 6:30 pm.
- X. Adjourn: Meeting was called to close by Ron Rinehimer at 8:02 pm.
